About
History
The location of the new Arboretum has seen the hand of people before. At one time the “citrus” railroad ran across the north side and we have mid-century mining operations to thank for the beautiful ravine and lake. In the 1970’s the property was set aside as a passive park, but was not opened to the public. Seasons came and went and the land flourished. Now in conjunction with the Parks Department, local educational institutions and related professionals, the non-profit board is carefully planning the future stages of the garden, including a grand opening in 2008.
