Jacksonville, Fla. (May 31, 2018) – The Jacksonville Arboretum & Gardens has elected three new members to its 2018 board of directors: Patty Miller, Lorin Thies and Steve Wingate.
Jacksonville Beach resident Patty Miller, who is the owner of coaching and talent management business Patty Miller Coaching LLC, has more than 12 years of human resource experience in the areas of leadership development, facilitation and talent management.
Miller, who is a certified professional coach through the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC), was senior director for leadership development at Jacksonville-based Acosta for 10 years before launching her own firm. Miller was recently named vice president to the board of directors for the International Coaching Federation’s North Florida Chapter. She holds a master’s degree in organizational development and leadership from Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia.
Jacksonville native Lorin Thies is currently the director of development for Her Song Jacksonville, a nonprofit agency that provides advocacy and support services for victims of human trafficking.
She holds a master’s degree in public administration and has more than 10 years of nonprofit marketing and development experience, holding previous fundraising positions with the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens, Tree Hill Nature Center, and the Florida Theatre.
Jacksonville resident Steve Wingate brings 19 years of IT systems management and seven years of information security management experience to the board.
Currently serving as senior manager of information security for Kraton, Wingate previously served as director of information security for One Call Care Management in Jacksonville. He also worked in various IT capacities with S2 Technology in Estero, Florida, The Max Group in Tampa, and began his career as lead technical consultant with Artis and Associates, based in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The Jacksonville Arboretum & Gardens, located at 1440 Millcoe Rd., is open to the public seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. – with extended summer hours to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays andThursdays – and offers a free, guided nature walk at 9:30 a.m. on the second Saturday of each month.
The arboretum opened in Nov. 2008 with a mission to cultivate a unique environment for recreation, education and inspiration for residents and visitors to the Jacksonville area. Located on 120 acres of scenic property, the venue is totally operated and maintained by board members and volunteers.
